He is a named Guinness World Record holder for the fastest circumnavigation by single-seat, single-engine piston aircraft — 122 days around the world with G-IRTY, a Spitfire that fought 51 battles in the Second World War, Ben flying as one of the six-man expedition team while directing, producing and filming. He is now moving into feature drama: the BAFTA-qualifying short James Hyde — The Very Thought of You — an official selection at HollyShorts and Norwich Film Festival — has been developed into the sweeping epic Burning Blue, aimed at 2029 and co-written with his brother Simon Uttley, with a second feature — Dragon, an action horror of the George and the Dragon legend — filming in 2027. He is completing the feature documentary of John Balsdon’s world record-breaking Cape to Cape expedition — the first full documentation of the 20,000 km challenge — due in autumn 2026. A further feature documentary, with wingsuit legend Amber Forte, is in the making.
